Tips for keeping kids entertained:
- Play kids party games that involve all the kids at once - especially when there is a large group so they are not standing around waiting for their turn at something.
- Don't give them too much to do - if you have a face painter and a jumping castle, or have a party in a park with distractions like playground equipment, trying to make the kids then play party games is going to be challenging. It's best to choose just one form of entertainment.
- Most kids enjoy time to just play with each other so don't be too stressed about keeping them entertained the whole time. By all means have a format for the party which keeps them busy and engaged (and helps you be organised!) but also allows them to have a break to just socialise - e.g. have snacks for them to help themselves to when they arrive & something to do when they arrive such as tattoos or an art/craft activity (leave the presents for opening at the end), play active games and activities, have a break for food/drinks, do quieter games/activities/craft, then do the birthday cake at the end.
